First official day of engine room work

Yesterday (tues) was my first full day in the engine room...finally out of the classroom for a week. I work "watch" from 4pm-12am until Saturday, then it's back to class for a week and vice-versa for 6 weeks. There is a lot of training involved to say the least, so I'm constantly learning new things which are imperative for the ship to function correctly.

The Great Comission Bible Church, Trinidad

Yesterday was the first time I had the opportunity to visit a local church and give a presentation about the ship's ministry and evangelism. Then I spent some time with the children by singing songs and playing games while teaching them the bible.

Trinidad arrival and update

Hello, all-
Wanted to give a brief update that we arrived in Trinidad on Tuesday morning and today (Thurs) we open to the public. They are expecting A very large crowd every day and I have heard this is one of our largest port for Christian books. Today was my last day of fire safety training and tomorrow I continue with more ship safety training. I start my job on Monday and will then be getting acquainted with a set schedule to begin evangelizing. The excitement is overwhelming of having a real schedule being that since I left home, everything has been changing so much. I look forward to thinking about the ship as home and being settled here. If you want to contact me, please e-mail me at steve.prentice@gbaships.org
Thank You

Logos Hope Arrival!

Some pictures of arriving to my future home for the next two years...Notice all of the people outside with their home country flags waving for a warm welcome in the last picture.

Pre-ship Training in Trinidad

Even though training is now over and I'm safe and sound on the ship, I wanted to post some pictures of the area of Trinidad where I was staying. I will be going back to Trinidad on Tuesday, but I will be in a different area from where I had PST.

1st Pic- The building we stayed at felt like it was built in the late 1700's but it was actually built in 2004. The quality of construction here is incredibly low.

2nd pic- Neighbors

3rd- Me in front of the nearest town with the most "vibrant" driving styles I've ever seen.

4th- There were 96 people there in all, but we all had smaller fellowship groups for activities.
